![]() ![]() You unlock an upgrade called ‘Archaeology’ when you start a run with 1B gems. I won’t spoil how to actually get it – be creative/ask in chat/check the forums. Demons have a secret trophy which will help enormously – if you cast Hellfire Blast within 60s of starting a run, it will also affect Halls of Legends. If you use the scrying feature with Demons for extra mana, it helps you fire off a Tax Collection during a Hellfire Blast, which is handy! You probably shouldn’t bother waiting until you can afford the Heritages unless you are letting a run go overnight. Now that you have some more trophies and a decent Faction Coin chance, it’s time to play **Demons** – very powerful faction if you have trophies, but they really struggle for Faction Coins. Definitely play Angels for at least 10min, firing off as many spells as possible to get more ‘mana drops’ – these will be very useful to Factions which don’t give you extra mana. Get to know what the different Factions are good for and which ones you like. Now it’s time to start playing all the other Factions through to the end of the Faction (to unlock the 6 ‘vanilla’ Heritages). Gems make you more likely to get Faction Coins from clicks or assistants. Stick with Elves (or Angels, if you have played Angels on a Sunday) for several runs until you have at least 100k-1M gems. Check that there are no trophies you can easily get on your current run before abdicating. To put it simply, if you are using the correct Faction for the gem range you are in, abdicate when you have significantly improved your gems and have no chance of significantly increasing your production within a couple of maximum spell combos. Some runs should be huge multipliers, others will be small when you reach one of the many gem walls in the game. There is no hard and fast rule as to when you should abdicate on a single run (like multiply gems by x10). If you can get a high enough mana regeneration, you can stack Call to Arms and Moon Blessing together, then be lucky with Elven Luck during that time for an enormous multiplier. Keep playing Elves until you either have 500 gems, or if you can bear it, until you have bought all the Elf upgrades and unlock the Elven Heritage. You’ll need to click a lot with Elf to get lots of Faction Coins, but it’s far faster with them than with any other Faction. Both of these Factions are under the **Good** Alignment. If you get it wrong, you’re far more likely to quit, because **Faction Coins** are very hard to come by unless you go **Elf** on your first run (or **Angel**, but only if you start playing on a Sunday – _secret trophy alert_). This is probably the most important choice you’ll make. These three resources come more or less easily to each different Faction. Gem progression is typically limited by 3 resources: **Gold**, **Faction Coins**, and **Mana**. To get trophies, you generally need to progress in gems. **The most important thing when you’re playing through for the first time is to get trophies. It will skip various things that are useful but easier to get much later in the game. This guide aims at flying through the first incarnation as quickly as possible. Generally, if you can think of an easily definable interesting challenge, it probably has a secret trophy attached. I’m only going to give spoilers for secret trophies that are really important (and time trophies, because they are annoying), and I’ll try to avoid doing it too early. Still, I’m learning what things have changed since I did all the early game stuff, so thought I might as well write it down in a guide for new players.
